IN HOME PERSONAL TRAINER TORONTO

PERSONAL TRAINING AT HOME, IN YOUR LIVING ROOM, BASEMENT, GARAGE OR HOME GYM

Working with an in home personal trainer in Toronto means no commute, no crowded gym floor and no one watching but your coach. In home personal training brings the workout to you and fits the space and time you already have, at a pace that matches where you’re starting.

Who In Home Personal Training Suits Best

For most of our clients, the biggest thing an in home personal trainer in Toronto gives them is time. There’s no drive to the gym, no hunting for parking and no waiting for equipment. Your session starts the moment your trainer walks through the door.

That makes it a natural fit for people who care more about staying consistent than about chasing big performance goals. Most of our in home clients fall into a few groups:

  • Professionals who work from home. A session fits between meetings without losing half your afternoon to a commute.
  • Busy parents. When your days revolve around school pickups, sports and a newborn’s schedule, training at home fits into the gaps you actually have.
  • Older adults and retirees who are still busy. One couple we train is in their 70s and still sits on boards and runs businesses. A personal trainer at home keeps exercise in their week without adding another trip to it.

If you’re working toward a specific goal that needs equipment we can’t bring into a home, our studio personal training is usually the better fit. We’ll tell you honestly which option suits you best.

Where Our In Home Personal Trainers Go in Toronto

Our in home personal trainers cover a wide stretch of Toronto: west to High Park and the Junction, east to the Beaches, and from the lake north into North York. Most of our in home clients live in and around downtown, in neighbourhoods like Trinity Bellwoods, Little Portugal and Kensington Market. We also train clients at home in Roncesvalles, High Park and Leslieville, and everywhere in between. If you’re near the edge and not sure, just ask. Your trainer will need somewhere to park, either a spot in your driveway or street parking within reasonable distance. We book sessions between 7am and 8pm, depending on trainer availability.

Making Room for Your Sessions

You don’t need a home gym to train at home. You just need enough space for you and your in home personal trainer to move freely, or for three of you if you’re training as a couple. Most sessions happen in a living room or basement, and sliding the coffee table out of the way is usually all it takes. If you have a space set aside just for fitness, even better. Garages work well too. Space is rarely an issue out there, but the cold can be, so dress for the temperature in the colder months. Any equipment you store in the garage will be cold to the touch, too.

It helps to have a spot in mind before your first session so it’s ready when your trainer arrives. Your trainer may also suggest a different part of your home if it’s a better fit. And if you have something sturdy to anchor a resistance band to, like a stair banister, that’s always a big help. Live in a condo or apartment with a building gym? See our condo personal training.

Training with Kids, Pets and Work Calls

A distraction-free space is ideal, but we know real life doesn’t always cooperate. Sometimes the kids need to be home during your session, and that’s fine. It just works best if they have something to keep them busy. We also understand that pets don’t like being left alone, so if yours wants to stay nearby, we’ll make it work.

If someone else in your home is working, we’ll keep that in mind. If there’s a meeting happening down the hall, we’ll pick a room and a style of session that won’t get in the way.

Whatever your home looks like, we’ll work with it. Our main goal is to make training at home easy to stick with, because consistency matters far more than having the perfect setup. That’s how we’ve worked since 2018. Learn more about Atom Athletics.

Fitness Tools We Bring, and What’s Worth Adding

Most of our in home clients already have some equipment, and your trainer builds sessions around whatever you’ve got. When something’s missing, your trainer can bring dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, a suspension trainer or a stability ball. Between them, that covers a wide range of exercises.

If you’d like to add to your home setup, just ask. Clients often do, especially once they want to work out on their own between sessions as part of their program. Our first recommendation is almost always an adjustable bench and a set of adjustable dumbbells. They take up very little space, they grow with you as you get stronger, and a bench is the one piece that doesn’t travel with us.

Your First In Home Personal Training Session

After a quick call and a short lifestyle questionnaire, we’ll pair you with a trainer who comes to you. Your first session is as much about your home as it is about you. The questionnaire also asks what equipment you already have, so your trainer can plan around it and bring anything that’s missing. When they arrive, they’ll look at the space you’ve chosen and may suggest a better spot if there is one. Then they’ll take you through a short assessment, starting easy and building up gradually to find the right level for you. By the end, your trainer will know how to make the most of your space and equipment, and you’ll know what training at home with us feels like.

What It Costs

Working with our in home personal trainers in Toronto costs $84 to $99 per session, plus HST, depending on the package you choose. The more sessions you commit to, the lower the price per session, and payment plans are available on our larger packages.

Your first session is complimentary, so you can try it before deciding on a package. See our personal training packages for the full breakdown.

FAQs About Working With an In Home Personal Trainer

Yes, we offer semi-private sessions for two people. The main thing to consider at home is whether your space has room for three people to move comfortably. We’ll check that during your first session. If things are a little tight, moving some furniture usually does the trick. Think of it as a bonus warm-up set.

No one has ever damaged their floors training with us. We’ll ask you to have your own exercise mat. It’s one of the few things we require, because it’s more sanitary than sharing. Your trainer will also show you how to pick up and set down weights safely, so nothing ever gets slammed on the floor. And because we never ask you to lift more than you can control, dropping weights isn’t an issue.

Only the space you’re working out in. Having a trainer over isn’t about entertaining or making an impression, and we’re judgement-free through and through. As long as the floor is clear of Lego and dog toys, we’re good. Just don’t ask us to do the dishes.

Yes, when the weather allows. There are a few things to consider, though. Allergies can affect your breathing, bugs can get in the way, peak summer heat means a lot more sweating, and uneven ground can make some exercises trickier. We’ll always do what it takes to give you that extra boost on any given day, and we’ll weigh these things with you before taking the session outside.

The best program is the one you can stick with. If home workouts are what fits your life, that’s the best program for you. The most advanced programs and results do tend to come from fully equipped spaces like the studios we train out of. But where you train matters far less than whether you keep showing up.
